Canadian Dallas Smith is getting ready to make waves in the United States. Chances are if you haven’t heard of him by now you’re going to be very soon. His debut EP Tippin’ Point hit iTunes back in March, and since then Smith has been working hard to perfect his craft. That all comes together with his newest single “Wastin’ Gas” which was released to US Country Radio today. It serves as the lead single for his debut album Lifted which will hit stores later this month, November 25 to be exact.
Lady Antebellum released the video for their current single “Freestyle” today. The song has a different sound then many of the other recent Lady A releases. Charles Kelly’s voice is more prominent than it has been in quite some time, as Hillary Scott provides the harmonies creating their signature sound. It’s not just the sound that’s different for a group that got famous through sticking to some serious country vibes. “Cherry classic Coke can, rolling on the floorboard, Fleetwood Macklemore comin’ out the speakers,” sings Kelly and Scott. A line that you would have never thought you’d hear out of the group that brought you “American Honey” and “Need You Know”. However, again they’re proven their ability to adapt.
Sam Hunt released his debut album today. The album entitled Montevallo, features ten songs including the four previously released on his debut EP X2C and the previously released single “Raised On It.” It’s an album true to who Sam is. He’s always stated that despite growing up in the Georgia, it wasn’t the country lifestyle that influenced him. Instead it was sports¹ and a blend of hip-hop, pop, and R&B. Those influences come out in full force on Montevallo.
Eric Paslay released a third single off of his debut self-titled album this morning. The track entitled “She Don’t Love You” has a significantly different sound from his previous two singles “Friday Night” and “Song About a Girl.” Country fans will get to know a different side of Paslay, one that shows his ability to sing a sensitive song.
Dierks Bentley has released his third single off of his most recent album Riser. The single entitled, “Say You Do” offers a significantly different sound from the previous single “Drunk on a Plane.” The somber single effectively ends any question surrounding a shift in personality.
