Sometimes you witness a moment and quickly realize it will become a part of history. That’s exactly what happened when Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake teamed up for a pair of songs last night at the CMA Awards. Performing Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey” and Timberlake’s “Drink You Away” the duo brought the Bridgestone Arena to their feet and had them cheering throughout the commercial break. There aren’t even words to do the performance justice, you just have to watch in amazement.
Chris Stapleton is up for New Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Male Vocalist of the Year at the CMA’s next week. Before he was making his own music he was tearing it up on covers of songs he wrote for other stars.
Eric Church is widely known as one of the best performers in country music. His unique ability to blend genres makes his records good, but hearing the sound live takes things to another level. His heavily rock influenced show, makes it unlike anything else around. One moment he’s in your face and the next he’s slowing things down. There’s songs about things that matter and songs about those that don’t. But if you’ve seen the chief perform before you already knew all that. What made Thursday night at the TD Garden different was the record breaking length.
