It was a big night for country stars at last night’s American Music Awards. A year after Brantley Gilbert shocked the country community by taking home the country album of the year award, it was Sam Hunt who shocked the music community last night.
Carrie, Carrie, Carrie. Sweet Carrie. First and foremost, thank you for coming to Boston. It might not be the most convenient geographically, but it’s the biggest indoor venue in the region and the only one that makes sense for her 2016 Storyteller Tour. Bringing along Easton Corbin (big fan) and The Swon Brothers (bigger fan) takes this night from good to great – honestly the most excited I’ve been for a show in about a year. Between her sweet vocals, killer new set of music, and those legs how could I not be excited.
Nothing makes us happier than some new music, especially when it comes from some of the most talent artists in the genre. When those artists team up the excitement can reach all time levels. That’s exactly what happened on the release of Chris Young and Cassadee Pope’s duet “Think of You.” They lead the way in a star-studded crop of new music out now that features the likes of Old Dominion, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood and more!
Here’s who won at the Grammy Award tonight:
Best Country Solo Performance:
“Something in the Water” – Carrie Underwood
Best Country Song:
“I’m Not Gonna Miss You” – Glen Campbell
Best Country Duo/Group Performance:
“Gentle on My Mind” – The Band Perry
Best Country Album:
Platinum – Miranda Lambert
Carrie Underwood released her first Greatest Hits album yesterday. The 23 song compilation features her biggest hits plus recently Grammy nominated “Something in the Water,” however it’s the other new track that has us buzzing. “Little Toy Guns” is nearly part two to “Blown Away,” except that it’s better – more relatable. Instead of wishing for it all to go away, Underwood has changed her tune. This time she wishes words were “little toy guns.”
