Grammy’s Preview: Best Country Song

We continue our Grammys preview with our thoughts on Best Country Song.

The Nominees:

“Automatic” – Miranda Lambert
“Give Me Back My Hometown” – Eric Church
“American Kids” – Kenny Chesney
“Meanwhile Back at Mama’s” – Tim McGraw feat. Faith Hill
“I’m Not Gonna Miss You” – Glen Campbell

The Odds:

Miranda Lambert leads the way here as the 3/1 favorite to take home the award. From there it’s Chesney at 4/1, Tim McGraw and his wife, Faith Hill, at 6/1, and Eric Church at 8/1. Glen Campbell comes in as a real long shot at 12/1.

The Facts:

  • The winner of this category is based off of the song itself. Combines the production, songwriting, and artist performance.
  • A song with a female lead singer has won the award for nine straight years. Rascal Flatts with “Bless the Broken Road” was the last song with a male singer to win.
  • It would be the first Grammy Award for Eric Church and Kenny Chesney.
  • Glen Campbell was honored with the lifetime achievement award at the 2012 Grammys.

The Pick:

There’s no way Miranda Lambert will leave the Grammys empty handed. This category has the weakest competition give the fact that Church and McGraw are nominated in other categories for the same song. That said, expect Miranda Lambert to take home the award.
