Canadian Dallas Smith is getting ready to make waves in the United States. Chances are if you haven’t heard of him by now you’re going to be very soon. His debut EP Tippin’ Point hit iTunes back in March, and since then Smith has been working hard to perfect his craft. That all comes together with his newest single “Wastin’ Gas” which was released to US Country Radio today. It serves as the lead single for his debut album Lifted which will hit stores later this month, November 25 to be exact.
At first listen you’ll notice that “Wastin Gas” sounds familiar. That can be attributed to the work of master producer Joey Moi (Florida Georgia Line and Jake Owen). Smith, like Chris Lane, is Big Loud Mountain’s solo artist project. He’s a talented vocalist, that becomes more talented through strong instrumentals and production. Big guitars reign through the song along with a strong back beat that makes you want to get up, dance, and sing along. It’s a song fit for radio. It may take a while for it to gain traction, but I believe it will eventually.
